T-38 Formation Echelon Turn |
| When the download is finished, you will see a video clip taken from #2 aircraft during a formation echelon turn in the T-38. An echelon turn differs from a fingertip formation turn in that both aircraft roll in position. Lead gives a hand signal and begins a turn away, and the wingman follows maintaining the same fore and aft references as in fingertip. Rather than climb, the wingman rolls at the same rate as the leader while keeping leads fuselage on the horizon. Less additional power is needed by the wingman to maintain position establishing an echelon turn, than is required by a fingertip turn away. Note: Clip size 368 kb. If the video is not downloading, and the small window is blank, you may need to upgrade your Quicktime plugin at the Quicktime website. Also be sure to enable Plug-Ins in your Browser Preferences. |
